World Sindhi Congress Executive Committee meeting was held on 6th July 1997, in "Sindh House" Woking Surrey. The meeting condemned the continued minority rule in Sindh and increasing incidents of terrorism specially in Karachi. The meeting also expressed concern at the increasing violation of Human Rights by the Police and Paramilitary forces. The meeting demanded immediate withdrawal of Rangers and restoration of Civil and Political Rights. The meeting called upon the Government of Pakistan to ratify the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights, and join the ranks of the civilised world. Meeting appealed to all Sindhis to unite to protect geopolitical integrity of Motherland and defend the historic national rights of Sindhi nation.
The meeting also condemned the indiscriminate destruction of the historical Sindhi archaeological sites, specially Kahoo jo Darro, Berhman Abad, Rani Kot, Kalan Kot, Moomal ji Marri, Makli Thatta, Hyderbad Fort, by the vested anti-Sindhi elements and lack of supervision and inefficiency of the Archaeological Department. The meeting called upon the government to take immediate steps and appealed to the UNESCO to urgently intervene and save the historical heritage for the future generations of the mankind. The meeting decided that 'Archaeological Survey' of Sindh should be planned for the end of year, jointly with Global Peace Foundation. The meeting also demanded the teaching of history of Sindh in the schools by including it in the curriculum.
The meeting reviewed the preparations for the Annual General Meeting of WSC to be held on 13-14th September 1997, in London, and expressed satisfaction at the positive response. The main theme of the discussion will be "SINDH & SINDHIS - PARLIAMENTARY FORUM and CONSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION". Meeting invited the Sindhis from all over the World to participate and contribute towards the future of Sindh and Sindhi nation.
