Dr. Munawar A. Halepota, Secretary General World Sindhi Congress, visited the European Parliament in Brussels, and met many Members of the European Parliament. to thank them in person for taking efforts for his release from illegal detention. It must be noted that last month the European parliament unanimously passed the resolution demanding the immediate and unconditional release form imprisonment.

Dr. Halepota informed the Members of the European Parliament about the Socio-economic problem, mass unemployment increasing violence by the terrorists and blatant violations of human rights in Sindh resulting from the emergency rule and suspension of constitutional rights.

He also informed the members about the recent attempt on the life of Mr. Syed Imdad Shah who is a son of Sain G M Syed and also a ex-leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly.and detention of many political activists including Mr. Bashir Qureshi, Dr. Dodo Maheri, Mr. Sattar Morio, Mr. Qazi Shafique and others.

Dr. Halepota has condemned the cowardly attack on Mr. Syed Imdad Shah, and emphasized that the government will never succeed in intimidating Nationalist leaders of Sindh. He reiterated that our peaceful struggle for obtaining the historic national rights of Sindhis, including the right of Self determination, shall continue inspite of the all the difficulties and the risks to the life of the nationalist leadership.

Dr. Halepota further said that the international community is now aware of the political situation in Sindh and supports the peaceful struggle of Sindhis. Now it is upto to the people of Sindh to unite in this struggle for achieving their rights through peaceful democratic means.
