Bharatiya Sindhi Global Alliance
May 16, 2005 : Recent attacks on Sindhu name and Culture has created pain and anguish to Hindu Sindhis all over the world. The following are some of the main issues :
Sindhi institutes and organizations in India lodged strong protests with the India Government. Actively they were supported by the overseas Sindhi institutions in the USA, UK, Singapore and Australia. The overseas protests based on legal, moral, constitutional and ethical grounds were lodged jointly by Dial V. Gidwani, founding president of the American Institute of Sindhulogy, and Gobind Jhangiani of Sindhi Internet Resources, London and which were actively supported by respective organizations and opinion makers in various countries, particularly Arjan Daswani (Singapore), Dilip Butani (California), and Mr. Moti Visa (Melbourne, Australia). Mr. Ranjit Butani of Sindhi Shaan spearheaded massive support in Mumbai. The case against the threat to delete Sindh from India’s National Anthem was valiantly and passionately argued by Mr. Ram B Jethmalani before the Supreme Court of India and Supreme Court dismissed the petition to delete Sindh from the National Anthem. In respect of the order to change the name of Sindhu River in India to Singhe River, the Government of India with drew its order and similarly the Government of Gujarat also withdrew its order to discontinue teaching of Sindhi Language in Schools in Gujarat. While the Sindhi Community in India met these and other challenges successfully by a unity of efforts generated also by overseas Sindhi organizations in USA and the UK, a feeling was growing in the community that the absence of adequate representation in the legislature and unresponsive executive at most levels often led to the just and legitimate interest of the community being ignored. There was also no realization of the sacrifice of Hindu Sindhi community in the cause of India's freedom and even less realization the Hindu Sindhis were forced to flee Sindh as the alternate was to be subject to massacre or conversion. With this new sense of unity now, the community has established Bharatiya Sindhi Global Alliance (BSGA) to look after the common interest of Hindu Sindhi community throughout the World. This is the first global Hindu Sindhi institute. The BSGA is hopeful that Shri Ram B Jethmalani will be, its Chief Patron and lead the community.
