World Sindhi Congress Condemn Terrorist Activities of MQM in Sindh

The Executive Committee meeting of World Sindhi Congress (WSC) was convened to discuss the current situation, particularly the recent events in Karachi. The meeting was presided by Dr. Haleem Bhatti Chairman WSC, Dr. Hidayat Bhutto UK and Europe Organizer, Lakhu Luhana Secretary General, Suraiya Makhdoom Senior Vice Chairperson, Sultan Mahar Cultural Secretary Rubina Greenwood Finance Secretary and Ambreen Hisbani. The participants commented that WSC view the situation gravely and believes that it is one of the direct outcomes resulting from the continued policies of injustice, apartheid and displacement of Sindhi people from their own capital, Karachi. WSC believes that the present government is a military government supported in Sindh by the anti-indigenous people and decaying political forces. During the current period, Sindh government has been put under the complete control of MQM, supported by the patronage of General Musharaf. The viewpoint and genuine interests of Sindhi people have completely been ignored, withdrawn and snatched in a calculated and cruel manner. Sadly, MQM has been criminally following the typical anti-Sindhi agenda by mafia style violent means. The worst atrocities committed by MQM during their current period of manipulated rule include:

1. Passing resolution, banning jobs for Sindhis from interior Sindh in the multinational corporations in Karachi
2. Bulldozing historical Sindhi villages, displacing thousands Sindhi and Baloch people
3. Gerrymandering division of Hyderabad and Dadu district to support their multi-faceted political agenda
4. Active support of settling illegal immigrants from India and Bangladesh to change the demography of Sindh
5. Recruiting MQM activists in Karachi police and civil administration, to further their agenda
6. Closing Sindhi medium schools
7. Withdrawing seats of rural Sindhi in Karachi’s professional colleges and universities
8. Uprooting Sindhi teaching in Karachi schools
9. Terrorizing political and media activists to give MQM a free hand in their crimes against Sindhi people

We would like to remind MQM that the political forces representing the genuine interests of Sindhi people believe that all the above actions are illegal and historical crimes and should be revoked immediately.

MQM has found a way to swear at Sindhi people. They argue that they represent ‘middle class’ and all the people who talk about the genuine historical rights of Sindhi people represent Sindhi land owning class. On the contrary, they (MQM) work in close collaboration with feudal lords, who are betraying the people of Sindh for their petty interests.

We believe that MQM and the military establishment of Pakistan are responsible for the current criminal lawlessness in Karachi. It’s MQM who would not allow even a peaceful demo, which questions the actions of their military masters. All this proves them to be an unquestionable ally of General Musharaf and antidemocratic forces.

WSC, therefore, ask MQM that rather than rhetoric they have to show a real attitude to recognize the genuine historical rights of Sindhi people supported by concrete steps to annul the harms caused by their ruthless apartheid, racist and fascist policies.

WSC request all the sober and saner elements within Urdu speaking communities in Sindh to reflect on the current situation and support the genuine rights of Sindhi people in order to build bridges of trust and consensus among the permanent residents of Sindh that have been lost due to the criminal policies of MQM.

World Sindhi congress also request all the people, organizations and civil society groups, claiming to represent the interest of Sindhi people to sit together to formulate a coherent view point and work plan to respond to the current situation in Sindh.
