WSC Condemns the Arbitrary Arrest of Sain Khair Bux Marri - The Icon of Baluch National Struggle World Sindhi Congress (WSC) strongly condemns today’s arbitrary arrest of Sain Khair Bux Marri, the veteran political leader, statesman, icon of Baluch national struggle and a source of inspiration for the oppressed nations of Pakistan . A large number of police personnel surrounded the house where Sain Khair Bux was living at about 2 pm local time today and entered with force violating the sanctity of the house and its residents. The police ransacked the whole house before taking the veteran leader forcibly away. It is really a matter of shame for the Pakistan’s military establishment and its henchman General Musharaf to arrest a person of Sain Khair Bux Marri’s stature who is in his eighties. Since last two years the military and intelligence oppression against the Baluch and Sindhi national leaders and workers has increased in its pace and ruthlessness. Hundreds of Baluch and Sindhi political activists have been kidnapped and are languishing in the torture centres of Pakistan’s military establishment. This is in addition to ongoing military oppression in Baluchistan that has resulted in the loss of life of hundreds of innocent Baluch people including children, women and fragile under the bombardment of Pakistani army. It appears that the Pakistani establishment’s desperation is reaching to a level of insanity against the rising tide of righteous struggle of Baluch and Sindhi people. WSC wants to remind the Pakistani establishment, as it has done on numerous occasions in recent past, that all these acts are unjust, cruel, criminal and grave violation to basic human rights. WSC therefore demands from the Pakistan Government that Sain Khair Bux Marri and all other Sindhi and Baluch political activists should be released immediately. The World Sindhi Congress (WSC) is one of the most prominent human rights advocacy organizations for Sindh and Sindhis. The main objective of WSC is to create a better understanding among the international community about the persecuted status of Sindhis in Pakistan and about Sindhi people’s struggles for their human rights, including the right of self-determination. WSC is a registered company in England and Wales, and California, USA, (UK Company No: 03842312; California Corporation No: C2740106) organzied to carry out non-profit activities only.
